Acer plans to release Netbook running on Windows 7 ! :
So is there anything different to look forward to apart from Windows 7? First of the Aspire One D250 will have a screen size of 10.1 inches but the resolution has been upped to 1,280 x 720.
We will also get a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 processor and a 160 GB hard disk drive, the usual connectivity options which include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, USB port, all in one card reader, webcam, 2.1 + EDR and multi touch track pad.
Battery time is always an issue with both Netbooks and Laptops, but particularly Netbooks simply because they are designed to be ultra portable so we want to be able to take them with us wherever we go without having to worry about finding a socket to recharge.
The Acer Aspire D250 Netbook has a basic battery so you can expect to get anything up to three and half hours of work or play which often isn’t long enough if you’re out for the day.
However, Acer is also offering the option of a longer life battery which supposedly will give us a respectable seven and a half hours usage. Now whether that is actually case is another matter altogether, I’ll be interested to see.
The new Acer Aspire One Netbook will be launched on 22nd October in Japan, the same date that the new operating system becomes available.
Prices are expected to start at about 46,800 Yen, which if you’re interested is the equivalent of $519, £327, or 352 Euros, however, at the moment we don’t know when it will become available in other countries or if the price will change when it does.
